Dubai Mall to Have a New Road Connection

- Dubai Mall will soon have an additional access from the southern direction of Al Khail Road through a new bridge connecting to the upper deck of the Financial Centre Road
- The new bridge is a collaboration between RTA and Emaar Properties, costing AED 177 million, and includes construction of a direct entry point to the new parking terminal of the Dubai Mall that is under construction as part of the mall’s massive expansion project
- The two-lane flyover is 90 per cent complete and will be ready by the end of 2017
- The 1.27 kilometre long bridge will increase the capacity of the corridor to around 4,500 vehicles per hour, thereby easing the usual heavy traffic flow along Financial Centre Road
- The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai is the government body that manages all matters related to transport in the city, with projects like Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram and bus
- Emaar Properties is one of the largest real estate developers in UAE, with a revenue of USD 4.307 billion in 2016
- Dubai Mall is the largest shopping mall in the world, with a record-breaking 65 million visitors in 2012, and also hosts the tallest tower and largest aquarium in the world
- Apart from road, Dubai Mall can be accessed by public transport, through the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station on the Red Line
- The Dubai Mall is undergoing expansion of the Fashion Avenue beside the existing mall covering a commercial area of 75,000 square metres, in addition to 25,000 square metres of car parking
