West India Tourism
West India is a region in the western part of India. It includes the states Gujarat, Maharashtra Rajasthan and Goa. It also houses the Union Territory Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu . This region is highly industrialized, with a large urban population. Regional languages like marathi, rajasthani, gujarati are widely spoken here.
The famous cities in this region are Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Mumbai, Pune, Nasik, Thane, Ajmer, Jaipur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Kota etc. Some of the famous hill stations in this region are Mount Abu, Lonavala-Khandala, Matheran, Mahabaleshwar etc. Mumbai is the most famous city and the financial hub of the india, is the city of fashon, Bollywood.
The famous muslim pilgrimage Dargah Sharif in Ajmer is situated in this region. Udaipur city is famous for its nature tourism, also known as “the lake city of india”. Nasik is the famous hindu pilgrimage center.
Folk dances like the Ghoomar of rajasthan, garba of gujarat is famous all over the india. Pohay, Shrikhand, Pav Bhaji, Vada Pav are good examples of Maharashtrian cuisine. Goa’s cuisine is dominated by the use of rice,coconut,seafood, Kokum, cashew-nuts. Gujarati cuisine is almost exclusively vegetarian and Daal Bati Churma is famous in rajasthan.
Gujarat is the state from where Mohandas Gandhi(Mahatma Gandhi), considered India’s “father of the nation” belonged. It is the most industrialized state in India. Some famous historical buildings are Surat Fort, Laxmi Vilas Palace at Vadodara, Watson Museum at Rajkot etc.
Maharashtra houses Mumbai which is the financial capital of India. The main cities in the state are Mumbai,Pune, Thane, Nasik, Lonavala-Khandala Hill Station,Mahabaleshwar Hill Station, Matheran Hill Station etc. Ganesh Chaturthi (Ganesh’s birthday) is the famous festival celebrated in the state. The state is famous for various hill stations, religious places, fashion, beaches etc. Some of the famous places are Shirdi, Elephanta caves, Ajantha and Ellora caves, Nariman Point, Gate way of India, Bollywood, ISCKON Temple, Marine Drive, Powai Lake, Haji Ali Mosque, Essel World, Hotel Taj, Magarpatta, etc.
Rajasthan is also known as “the land of kings” and “the land of colours”. The famous cities are Jaipur, Ajmer, Chittorgarh, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Jaisalmer etc. Jantar Mantar, Chittorgarh Fort, Lake Palace, City Palaces, Jaisalmer Havelis are part of the true architectural heritage of India. Goa is India’s smallest state by area in India. Located on the west coast of India in the region known as the Konkan. Panaji is the state’s capital, while Vasco da Gama is the largest city.Renowned for its beaches, places of worship and world heritage architecture, Goa is visited by large numbers of international and domestic tourists each year.
Madhya Pradesh is often called the Heart of India. The famous cities in the state are Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior etc. Madhya Pradesh is famous for its temples, historical heritage etc. Some of them are Sanchi stupa in Sanchi, Khajuraho temple etc. Gwalior is famous for its forts and numerous temples, with the Gwalior fort being the most visited by tourists.
