UIM F1 H2o World Championship – Sports Event in Abu Dhabi

The Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi is staged over a course run between the Breakwater and the Corniche, creating dramatic action for spectators against an impressive city skyline backdrop.
Likened to driving an F1 race car at full speed over a ploughed field, F1 powerboat racing has been around since 1981.
In fact, today’s F1 powerboats accelerate faster than F1 cars, going from standstill to 160kph in only 4 seconds, often reaching 230kph during races.
Drivers compete at these speeds without the use of brakes or gears, making the UIM F1 H2O series highly competitive, fascinating, challenging, daring and entertaining – the ultimate extreme sport.
Races last approximately 45 minutes over a marked out circuit, with the starting grid decided by qualifying sessions in which competitors go all out to earn pole position by setting the fastest time.
Staged in cities around the globe, the UIM F1H2O World Championship is run on lakes, lagoons, rivers and creeks, bringing race excitement as close as possible to fans and creating a fantastic spectacle.
Since 1993, Abu Dhabi International Marine Sports Club has hosted a round of the UIM F1 H2O World Championship, the world’s most spectacular water sport series.
