UAE Lights up in Solidarity With Manchester Bombing

- Important buildings in Dubai and Abu Dhabi were lit in the colours of the UK flag,
as a gesture of condolence following a bombing in Manchester - Burj Khalifa, Emirates Palace and Galleria Mall displayed the Union Jack on their facade on 23rd May, 2017
- A suicide bombing took place in Manchester on 22nd May, 2017, at a concert of famous pop singer Ariana Grande
- 22 people were killed and 120 people were injured at Manchester Arena due to a nail bomb that detonated at the end of the concert
- The Manchester Arena has a maximum capacity of 21000 people, and is one of the largest and most popular indoor concert venues in Europe
- The majority of the people who were affected by the Manchester bombing are teenagers and young adults, given that they make up most of Ariana Grande’s fan demographic
- ISIS has declared that the bombing on 22nd May was carried out by one of their members, who US officials identified as Salman Abedi
- The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is an Islamic terrorist group who have been responsible for killing and injuring thousands of innocent people since 2013
- The Greater Manchester Police have arrested a 23-year old man who they also suspect is connected to the bombing incident in Manchester
