UAE Launches World’s First Happiness Policy Manual

- The UAE has developed the Happiness Policy Manual — the first of its kind in the world
- The manual was designed by the Ministry of Happiness’s National Program for Happiness and Positivity to introduce the “science of happiness” in the country
- The manual complements the National Program for Happiness and Positivity’s efforts to empower Government entities by providing practical instruments
- The manual was first introduced in a workshop for around 100 federal policymakers led by Paul Dolan, professor of Behavioural Science at the London School of Economics
- The Ministry of Happiness in the United Arab Emirates oversees UAE plans, programs and policies to achieve a happier society
- The UAE Cabinet endorsed The National Happiness and Positivity Charter, which stipulates the UAE Government’s commitment to provide a nurturing environment for residents
- Paul Dolan is a best selling author and an internationally renowned expert on happiness, behaviour and public policy
- UAE uses a Happiness Impact Assessment Tool — an instrument that assesses the impact of policies on the happiness of the wider community and the expected duration of this effect
- A “Happiness Meter” has been launched in Dubai, making it the 1st city in the world to measure its visitors’ & residents’ happiness interactively
