UAE iceberg project for 2019 gets trial run

- The projects aims to have the vessels cover the 12,000 KM journey from Antarctica to Fujairah by 2020
- The purpose of this project is to have pure, polar ice water for humanitarian purposes and commercial distribution
- The icebergs will be towed from the Antarctic to UAE’s Fujairah coastline by 2020
- Before the long journey that it is to make in 2019, the firm is planning on having a shorter pilot run that will make the trip to Australia or the southern coast of South Africa
- Work has been ongoing on this project heavily since last year
- Patents have been filed on this project in the UK to protect the firm as they have made heavy investments in this
- 20 billion gallons of fresh water is held by an average iceberg which is enough to last for a million people for the next five years
- The time it will take to get the iceberg from the Antarctic to the coastlines of Fujairah is roughly about 1 year according to simulations
- This project is part if the larger greening of the Empty Quarter project by the firm
