UAE Begins National Day Celebrations With 5-Tonne Cake

- UAE PRO Association, in collaboration with the Dubai Police, cut a 110-metre-long cake weighing a whooping 5000 kilos (5 tonnes)
- Kick-starting the National Day celebrations on Tuesday senior Dubai Police officials cut the vanilla cake at the Dubai Al Wasl Club
- A total of 16 chefs, from across several bakeries in the UAE baked the cake over a period of 8 days, with the help of 105 volunteers to organise the event
- A 500-metre UAE flag was also created for the occasion, as the longest UAE flag ever made
- Dubai Police is the main regulatory authority in the emirate, with a force of 15000 officers, functioning in Dubai for over 60 years
- UAE National Day falls on 2nd December every year, following the union of 6 of UAE’s 7 emirates on the same day in 1971
- National Day in UAE is one of the major holidays and is celebrated on a big scale, with parades, decorations, fireworks and more fun activities
- 4130 students created a world record as the largest human waving flag at GEMS Cambridge International School in Abu Dhabi, as a tribute to National Day 2017
- The previous record of the longest UAE flag was marked at 180 metres
