Two new Fees to be Charged by Dubai Govt for Raising Funds

- The Dubai Government will raise funds with two new fees that will be charged for a wide range of government services
- Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Monday issued a law stating the AED 10 Knowledge Dirham will fund education and cultural projects in Dubai
- Sheikh Mohammed also approved the AED 10 Innovation Dirham, which will support innovation-related projects and involve the public in supporting innovation
- The fees will be levied on any services provided by a government entity (except healthcare services and traffic fines) and the revenues allocated to the Dubai Future Foundation
- Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai
- The Dubai Future Foundation was initiated by Sheikh Mohammed with an aim to shape the future of the strategic sectors in cooperation with government and private sectors
- The law to implement the fees on government services will be effective from the date of its publication in the government’s official gazette
- The Knowledge Dirham and Innovation Dirham will not be refunded when transactions are cancelled
- The Knowledge Dirham and Innovation Dirham will not be charged on transactions less than AED 50
