Trucks Banned on Abu Dhabi Roads During Ramadan

- Abu Dhabi Police has banned heavy vehicles like buses and trucks from driving on roads during peak times in Ramadan 2017
- The ban on heavy vehicles will reduce road traffic and accidents on Abu Dhabi roads
- The ban will be imposed from 8:00 AM till 10:00 AM and between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM for trucks and heavy vehicles
- Buses carrying workers will be exempted from the ban in the afternoon, and will have to follow it only between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM
- Heavy vehicles are classified as those carrying 50 passengers or more, or the equivalent of that weight
- The ban has been imposed by Colonel Mohammed Dahi Al Himiri, Director of the Capital’s Traffic Department at the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police General Command
- Abu Dhabi Police have warned drivers to be more careful during Ramadan, by following traffic rules, reducing speed, adhering to safety, and not being distracted by a phone or other devices
- Usually, traffic regulatory authorities in UAE ban heavy vehicles during peak hours in Ramadan every since, since drivers are more prone to accidents in that time
- Not only for heavy vehicles, UAE’s police force have also warned all drivers on the road to be cautious during the month of Ramdan, when fasting and heat of the summer tends to affect people more
