Traffic diversions will affect drivers using Sheikh Zayed Road in both directions for the next year.

Diversions will commence between Interchanges 2 and 3 starting on Friday, 10th March, 2017, to complete work on roads and bridges on Al Wasl street.

The Roads and Transport Authority said diversions would cover Umm Al Sheef, Latifa bint Hamdan and Al Zomorrud streets and will continue until July 2018. Alternative roads would be provided, the RTA said.

Nabeel Mohammed Saleh, director of roads, suggested the use of two temporary roundabouts to enter and exit Sheikh Zayed Road.

Phase II entails closing the existing roundabout and service road parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road on the sea side. The next diversion would begin on 24th March and include parts of Latifa bint Hamdan street that will turn one-way.

The alternative route for motorists heading into First Al Khail street will be to head west, turn left to Al-Jarena street and onto street 3A. A U-turn will replace the existing roundabout on Al-Zomorrud street.
