Tonight’s evening carries a unique and important message. The boundaries between pop and classic, always perceived as insurmountable can fall: not, because of concessions from one side or the other, but because one person can reach excellence in both of them. Following its educational perspective, TCA Abu Dhabi has designed, together with one of today’s leading composers, Stephan Moccio a programme that will both fascinate the audience and open new perspectives on the musical art.
A key ambassador between Classical, Jazz and Pop Music, Grammy Award-winner and Academy Award-nominated composer Stephan Moccio is considered one of the main names of the music world as he wrote and produced some of the biggest hits of the last 20 years. He co-wrote and co-produced for example two songs for Fifty Shades of Grey (Earned It, The Weeknd and I Know You, Skylar Grey), co-wrote Miley Cyrus’ planetary hit single Wrecking Ball as well as Celine Dion’s comeback hit A New Day Has Come. The list of the artists he has collaborated with reads like a list of the greatest and most successful performers of the music industry: Seal, The Weeknd, Ellie Goulding, Shaffer, Sarah Brightman, Josh Groban, John Legend, Gladys Knight, Skylar Grey, Randy Jackson, Jordan Smith, DJ Khalil, Carole Bayer Sager, Fergie, Planet VI
For this unique, one-of-a-kind concert night, Moccio will team up with a leading string orchestra and two international soloists to showcase his very approach to music: “There are many times when I find myself caught between opposing forces in my music. Is it classical or pop? Am I a performer or a composer? Do I collaborate or work alone? As a creator, these are questions that I face every day. And finding answers is somewhat of a balancing act because they are usually somewhere in between.”
In building bridges between the popular pop culture and the art of classical music, TCA Abu Dhabi Classics with Moccio will take the audience through the work of one of today’s most brilliant musical minds, displaying his classical music works for piano and orchestra as well as his global smash hits. Get ready to meet one of today’s great musical geniuses, to immerse in very different genres of music and to learn more about its wide and fascinating universe.
