Shooting competition at the inaugural Al Forsan Ramadan Championship comes to a close
Abu Dhabi, Thursday, 23 May 2019: The shooting competition held during the inaugural Al Forsan Ramadan Championship concluded on 23 May 2019. Organized by Al Forsan International Sports Resort, the tournament kicked off on 8th of May with large numbers of participants from the UAE and several other countries.
The shooting competition attracted unprecedented numbers of citizens and residents who took part in the .22 rifle and the 9mm pistol categories.
The .22 rifle male category saw Nayef Saeed Al Kathiri winning the first prize, followed by Nayef Al Moharami, while Saqr Al Dahmani took the third place.
In the female category, Mohra Ahmad Al Tamimi took the first place, followed by runner-up Aoi Lisette Lofranco and Aysha Ahmed Al Suwaidi in third place.
The 9mm pistol category was also very competitive, with shooter Mohammed Al Kaabi taking the first place, followed by Ali Mubarak Omar coming in second place, and Khalid Al Menhali in third place.
Mohra Ahmed Al Tamimi won her second title in the event when she took first place in the female category for the 9mm pistol category. Sondos Al Rawi and Hind Al Junaibi came in second and third place respectively.
Prize giving ceremony
As the final day concluded, HE Tariq Abdul Rahim Al Hosani, Vice Chairman of Al Forsan, and Khalifa Al Hemeiri, CEO of Al Forsan Holding, handed out a total of AED 240,000 of prize money to the winners.
Al Hosani congratulated the winners and praised Al Forsan International Sports Resort for strengthening the sports scene in Abu Dhabi by organizing tournaments and competitions for citizens and residents while providing various entertainment options to help young adults make the best out of their time.
Al Hosani said: “We look forward to having bigger and better tournaments organized by Al Forsan both locally and regionally. The resort has the potential to remain at the forefront of sports and leisure organizations in the UAE.”
Khalifa Al Hemeiri, CEO of Al Forsan Holding, said: “The championship was well received by male and female competitors, citizens and residents alike. Over one hundred people took part in the various championships. Al Forsan will be hosting the competition again next Ramadan”.
Al Hemeiri said that Al Forsan Resort is keen on developing the sports scene in Abu Dhabi and the UAE in general. He thanked Tawazun Economic Council for sponsoring the championship, and also thanked Abu Dhabi Media for being the media partner of the event.
As for future events, Al Hemeiri that the resort is considering organizing similar tournaments across various individual and team sports to be announced at a later date. This is part of the resort’s goal to promote sporting activities and help young people unlock their potential. Ultimately, these activities will develop the spirit of competitiveness and instil the desire to succeed among Abu Dhabi citizens and residents during the holy month of Ramadan.
