Sheikh Zayed Road: New Salik road toll gate to be installed

According to the RTA (Roads and Transport Authority), there will be a new Salik gate that will be installed in the month of October this year.
The toll gate is said to come into effect on October 23rd on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road, the Roads and Transport Authority has confirmed. The launch of this new toll gate is expected to ease traffic in Downtown Dubai and make it much easier for the motorists to travel back and forth even during normal peak hours.
As of now, Dubai is facing some major traffic jams despite the well-built roads and great infrastructure. This move by the RTA should help curb that to substantial extents. The toll gate shall be placed on the road that is headed towards Abu Dhabi right after the Ibn Battuta Mall.
Drivers will be charged with AED 4 each time that their vehicle passes the Salik toll gate. This is the seventh toll gate all together in Dubai, and is aimed to generate hundreds of thousands in revenues annually.
The Al Yalayis Road Improvement Project and the Sheikh Zayed Road Project that is on the seventh interchange are two of the major road projects that is aimed and designed solely to ease the traffic and congestions that motorists face on Sheikh Zayed Road during certain time intervals of the days. The project is said to be completed on 15th September.
The project also aims to enhance the link connecting the Sheikh Zayed Road and both Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road. The project will look into diverting the traffic that is inbound from Abu Dhabi thereby easing the traffic flow n the Sheikh Zayed Road to Yalayis Road and on to the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road.
