Sheikh Mohammed Issues 50% Discount on Dubai Traffic Fines
- Drivers in Dubai who have accumulated traffic fines from 2016 and before will get a 50% discount
- Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai, issued the order of discounted traffic fines in Dubai in the spirit of UAE’s Year of Giving
- The 50% discount on traffic fines will not be applicable to any fines committed in 2017
- The discount will be automatically applied on the fine at the time of payment, which can be done through the traffic department, police and car registration centres, kiosks in commercial centres, UAE bank websites and RTA centres
- Traffic violations and fines in Dubai are normally charged a penalty ranging AED 100 to AED 2000, depending on the nature of the violation
- Apart from a penalty, traffic fines in Dubai also result in drivers accumulating black points and having their license confiscated for a period of time
- In Dubai, if drivers have over 24 black points charged against them in total of all their violations, they can be banned from driving for a year
- Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the Prime Minister, Vice President and Minister of Defence of UAE, and the Emir (Ruler) of Dubai
- UAE marked 2017 as the Year of Giving, declared by the President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to promote charity and generosity in the country
