Ramadan Timings for Abu Dhabi Abattoirs Announced

- The Ramadan timings that abattoirs in Abu Dhabi will follow is 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Three of the slaughterhouses – Abu Dhabi Public Slaughterhouse, Bani Yas Slaughterhouse and Shahama Slaughterhouse – will have extended timings from 10:00 AM to 1:30 AM
- Municipal slaughterhouses offer additional services like home delivery and chiller for carcasses when transported between long distances
- The charges are AED 15 for a goat or sheep, AED 40 for a calf or young camel, and AED 60 for a cow or a full-grown camel
- There will be additional charges for getting the meat cut in a special way – an extra of AED 10 for a goat or sheep, AED 60 for a calf or young camel, and AED 100 for a cow or camel
- These slaughterhouses follow a strict policy for checking the animals, and employ specialised vets to carry out tests
- Slaughterhouse butchers have been doubled in number for the busy times, and other employees like cleaners and supervisors have also been added
- During Ramadan 2016, more than 70000 goats and sheep, as well as 2000 camels and cows, were processed by Abu Dhabi slaughterhouses
- Abu Dhabi Municipality does not allow for animals to be slaughtered in public, especially residential areas, or anywhere except and authorised slaughterhouse
