About:
The Qasr Al Hosn festival returns to Abu Dhabi to celebrate centuries of heritage, history and Emirati culture and tradition.
The third edition of the festival will highlight the fort’s conservation process and its former functions through various activities and platforms.
Organised Tours: The historic fort will open its doors to the public offering organised tours to visitors with access to the inner Fort, the National Consultative Council Chamber and areas of the fort that were never open to the public before, such as the living quarters.
Qasr Al Hosn Exhibition: Launched during the festival, the exhibition will focus on the significance of the Fort and its historical context.
The Cultural Foundation: An integral part of the festival , the Cultural Foundation will feature a comprehensive public programme including exhibitions, activities and installations emphasising the building’s significance as a landmark of Abu Dhabi’s modern heritage. This year, the Cultural Foundation will witness the participation of non-profit community organisations to promote their initiatives focused on UAE culture and heritage.
Exhibitions: The festival will feature fascinating exhibitions including the homecoming of the National Pavilion, the country’s exhibition from the 14th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale Di Venezia and “Lest We Forget: Structures of Memory in the UAE”.
Music & Art: A music programme themed around the UAE intangible heritage and specially-commissioned artworks by Emirati artists are a highlight of the festival.
Gahwa: A cultural experience exhibition celebrating the Emirati tradition of the Gahwa rituals.
A complete family experience: In addition, the popular festival will offer activities for the complete family with a lively hub of visual and performing arts programmes, traditional workshops and cultural and interactive learning experiences led by professional curators, artisans and experts.
