Open Labs platform for scientists and researchers in the UAE
Dubai has come up with an innovative solution wherein which they have made an initiative for scientists and researchers to be able to create an environment where they can share and receive information and knowledge from one another, understand each others working methodologies, prototypes, gain experience in the making and achieve the desired results in less the time than it normally takes all while reducing the cost of the research.
Hence the very first UAE’s Open Labs has been launched giving scientists and researchers easy access to the most laboratory equipments. His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has launched the Open Labs initiative on Monday night. He has stated “Today we have launched the UAE Open Labs, the first of its kind in the UAE. It will allow researchers and scientists to access the most advanced laboratory equipment, and create an environment for scientists to exchange knowledge, expertise and scientific results” and also went on to add, “Through this initiative, we are announcing that the UAE has been turned into an open-air laboratory, a beacon for advanced sciences and their applications as well as a scientific innovation environment for shaping the future of the UAE.”
What really is Open Labs
It is a platform that represents a cumulative gathering of all the major research institutions in the UAE. It looks forward to establishing a working system that is integrated and is based on a variety of activities that has a solid foundation of scientific research institutions by effective partnerships with that of internationally leading research centers. The platform is very unique in the sense that it tries to motivate individuals and it also encourages highly qualified scientists, students, and anyone and everyone who is interested in the field of science to participate and be a part of the scientific research techniques that aims to better the health and the functionality of mankind and the environment around us.
This platform will also link the scientists within the state laboratory to one another including to experts within the particular field in order to ensure that the knowledge and the investment’s in the country’s specialized laboratories will raise the productivity of research institutions. There are six major research institutions that the platform already features in the UAE. And those six are Mohammad Bin Rashid Space Centre, Khalifa University, UAE University, American University of Sharjah (AUS), the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, and the International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA).
A one of a kind platform as it provides easy access to more than 150 research devices for the scientific community within UAE. The Open Labs platform is an initiative taken up by the Emirates Scientists Council (ESC)
