New Driving License for Desert driving in UAE

Sharjah Driving Institute has announced that a driver’s licence for desert vehicles and desert safari tourism companies will be available starting from Sunday, September 16.
Colonel Ali Al Bazoud, director of licensing vehicles and head of the Customer Happiness Centre, said that several companies organise safari trips for tourists. The coming months with cooler weather will see greater footfall for such activities.
He added that such trips could endanger lives if the driver has not been adequately prepared for desert driving.
Drivers will undergo special preparations and tests to pass, including theory and practical examination and training at the driver’s institute in such terrain.
The training will also include technical and practical knowledge of how to extract a vehicle if it gets stuck in the sand.
