New Abu Dhabi Traffic Violation Fines from 1st July 2017
- Traffic violations in Abu Dhabi like not wearing seat belts and jumping red lights will have heavier fines starting from 1st July, 2017
- Motorists who ignore traffic lights will be fined AED 1,000 and incur a penalty of 12 black points, and their vehicles seized for a month, from 1st July, 2017
- From 1st July, AED 400 fine and four traffic points will be charged for drivers and passengers not wearing their seat belts, while AED 1,000 and six traffic points will be fined for shoulder passers
- Other amendments in the traffic fine include AED 400 for child below 10 years sitting in the front seat or children less than 4 years not wearing seat belt in the back seat; no more than 50% tint on windows; AED 3000 fine and 24 black points for commercial drivers without a permit
- The Abu Dhabi Police is responsible for implementing traffic fines in the city, which they periodically try to improve to motivate drivers to abide by the laws and enhance their efforts to make roads safer
- The traffic fines which will be implemented in Abu Dhabi from 1st July, 2017, are as per the amended executive regulations of 2017’s Federal Traffic Law No. 21
- Up until August 2016, Abu Dhabi Traffic Police had implemented a scheme of violators paying only 50% of the traffic fine
- Traffic fines in Abu Dhabi can be paid by checking the Ministry of Interior website for pending fines, or through the Ministry’s mobile app
- The Abu Dhabi Police force is under the command of Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the watch of Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Daheri, Director-General of Central Operations
