Nearly 100 Dubai Eateries Shut Down Over Hygiene Issues

- Dubai Municipality gave temporary closure orders to 94 restaurants and cafes between January and June 2017
- The food outlets have been given temporary closure for failing to follow hygiene rules, including some for having insects crawling around their premises
- More than 15,600 inspections have been carried out in 2017, meaning many were repeatedly visited to ensure their standards had not slipped
- While 94 eateries were shut down, 1409 food establishments in Dubai received Excellent and Gold rating during the first half of 2017
