Make Donations Through Careem App During Ramadan 2017

- Cab service Careem has tied up with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) to make donations during Ramadan 2017
- For every donation made to the refugees, Careem will match the amount
- Careem launched UNHCR cars in Dubai to make it easier for people to donate – when they book an UNHCR car, the donation fee of AED 3 automatically gets added to the fare
- The donations made by riders and the amount matched by the company will all go towards UNHCR’s refugee aid programmes

- UNHCR is currently focusing on helping regions with a high refugee population of 16.7 million people, like Jordan, Beirut, Egypt and Turkey
- 79% of world’s refugees reside in low-income countries in the Middle East and over half of them are children
- Women are form the largest part of Careem’s customer base, especially mothers taking their children to school and other activities, making them more sympathetic to the donation cause
