Louvre Abu Dhabi Opening Date Announced

- It has been announced that the Louvre Abu Dhabi will open to the public on 11th November, 2017
- The museum will have almost 700 exhibits on display; belonging to the museum’s permanent collection and loaned from 13 major French institutions
- The first of three museums to open in Saadiyat Island, the 97,000-square-metre Louvre by TDIC, will include 23 permanent galleries in 12 sequences
- Entry to the Louvre Abu Dhabi will be priced at AED 60 per adult, with special rates for students, senior citizens and armed forces; with free for children below the age of 13
- The Louvre Abu Dhabi project was first announced in 2007, marking the opening some 10 years, 8 months and 250 days later
- Louvre Abu Dhabi is part of a thirty-year agreement between the city of Abu Dhabi and the French government
- The original Louvre Museum in Paris, France, is the world’s largest art museum and a historic monument
- The final cost of the construction of Louvre Abu Dhabi is expected to be between EUR 83 million and EUR 108 million
- Jean Nouvel is the architect behind Louvre Abu Dhabi, while the structural engineering is being taken care by BuroHappold Engineering
