- It was a 10-minute laser show, dubbed as ‘Light up Dubai 2018’ with a display of ‘Year of Zayed’
- As the clock stroked 12, Burj Khalifa came alive with a dazzling laser show, projecting many symbols of the nation — UAE flag, falcon in flight and Arabic language
- The 2772ft structure has cemented itself in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest laser light and sound show on a single structure
- Burj Khalifa is the tallest tower in the world, at a height of 829.8 metres
- 2018 is being celebrated as the Year of Zayed, paying tribute to the founding father of UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan
- The record beats Hong Kong in 2013 on the ICC Building which was over an area of 46,641.52 sq. m
- ‘Light Up 2018’ on Burj Khalifa, spanned an impressive surface area of 109,252 sq. m, more than double that of the earlier record set
- This was the first time Burj Khalifa did not welcome the New Year with fireworks but spectators were stunned by the laser light show
