Indians Celebrate 69th Republic Day in UAE

- Several hundred residents gathered at the Consulate in Dubai to celebrate India’s 69th Republic Day early Friday morning (26th January)
- Consul General of India in Dubai Vipul wished all residents gathered at the Indian Consulate a Happy Republic Day
- The Consul General began the celebrations by reading out Indian President Ram Nath Kovind’s inspiring presidential address to the nation
- The celebrations were started on 25th January with a world record breaking performance by 12-year-old Sucheta for singing in 102 languages in one concert
- The Indian Republic Day honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26th January 1950
- 26th January was chosen as the Republic Day because it was on this day in 1930 when Declaration of Indian Independence was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress
- The main Republic Day celebration is held in the national capital, New Delhi, at the Rajpath before the President of India
- The Delhi Republic Day Parade is the main attraction of India’s Republic Day Celebrations, lasting three days, which showcases India’s Defence Capability, Cultural and Social Heritage
