Indian Social Centre in Abu Dhabi Celebrates 50th Anniversary

- The Indian Social and Cultural Centre (ISC) in Abu Dhabi has been successfully representing India’s diversity in its true form in UAE during the past 50 years
- The ISC membership comprises Indians from all regions of the country who speak different languages and represent various cultures
- The five-month golden jubilee celebrations began on Thursday evening (9th November, 2017), and will end in March 2018
- The celebrations kicked off with a live band gig by Anju Joseph and team, and on 16th November, famous ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas is scheduled to perform live
- The United Arab Emirates is a country in the Middle East, withAbu Dhabi being its capital city
- Indians are the largest community of expatriates in UAE, making up for nearly 30% of the country’s population
- ISC was started in 1967 by most Indian employees of two oil companies in Abu Dhabi, in a small building just as a venue to celebrate Indian festivals
- As of 2017, ISC has its own AED 35 million building with all kinds of sports and games facilities, and provisions for cultural and recreational use
- By providing a vibrant platform for cultural, social, educational, sports and other activities, ISC has helped Indians to remain connected with India even when not in the country
