India-Uber Doubles Footprint In Two Months

Uber’s service launched in 2009 is currently available in over 330 cities in 60 countries around the world.
Is cab-hailing app startup Uber preparing to make India its second-largest market after China, overtaking its home territory, the United States? Uber is on a massive expansion drive in India, a market critical for its growth, launching in four more cities and taking its total coverage to 22 cities in the country.
In the two months since June, Uber has doubled its India footprint from 11 cities. The four new cities added on Monday are Guwahati in the East, Vadodara in the West, Nashik in central India and Thiruvananthapuram in the South. By coverage, India is the second-largest geography for Uber after the United States, where it is present in over a 100 cities. In China, it serves a mere 16 cities currently but many of these are growing at staggering rates. Details
