My Heritage, My Responsibility 2017 – Culture Event in Abu Dhabi

The events are curated to create a unique platform for visitors to engage with different elements of Emirati culture. The programmes also enhances the atmosphere by enabling visitors to participate in traditional competitions in addition to conducting a family workshop for all ages alongside traditional Emirati music.
Traditional Medicine
The section will provide audiences with the chance to learn about the UAE’s traditional medicine through a live event held in the museum’s courtyard featuring local practitioners of traditional medicine such as Al Hijama, Al Takhbeen and Al Tajbeer (splinting).
Traditional Cuisine
Visit this section to enjoy local culinary delights and sought-after for feasts. A live event will highlight the preparation of traditional dishes such as Luqaimat, Harees, Balaleet and many more.
Traditional Emirati fashions
Visitors can also learn about including details on how the traditional attires are worn, their patterning, colours and how they are tailored for men and women. Traditional clothes have common features in their overall design that adhere to cultural and religious manners, while the patterning is proof of UAE’s inherent heritage. You can even take souvenir family portraits wearing the Emirati traditional clothes.
Traditional market
The local market will provide visitors with the chance to try the exquisite flavours of Emirati dishes and purchase traditional products such as Sadu weavings, Madakhin (Bakhoor incense burning pots), old Delal (coffee pots) and traditional clothes.
Organised by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), the programme is hosted at one of the most prominent cultural destinations in the city, Al Ain Palace Museum which narrates the story of UAE’s founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
