Reverse Annual fee on FGB Credit Card

FGB, being a famous bank in UAE, many expats and locals obtain credit cards from First Guld Bank. Those who have opted for the Platinum cards are liable to pay a yearly fee for the card. This yearly fee is a steep amount, that is AED550. There are ways to get this FGB Credit card annual fee waived off by the bank. The request for annual fee waiver can only be initiated by the customer when the statement with the fee is generated. Once the statement is generated, use the following method to reverse the annual fee.

Reversing the FGB Credit Card Annual Fee
To get started, call FGB Customer care at 600 525 500. Wait patiently, as the waiting times for the FGB customer care has now increased upto 10-15minutes. Once the call is attended, request the customer care operator that you want to request a waiver on the annual fee. The operator will take the request and have someone from FGB’s Retention team call you back. This may take a few days, and once they call, you will be presented with a few options to reverse the FGB Platinum card annual fee.

1. Make a spend of AED2000 within the next one month or
2. Pay Etisalat/Du/Water/Electricity bill with FGB auto debit payment

First option is straight forward. Spend the amount on the card, and the fee will be reversed. You have to call them back to confirm once you have made the spend.

For the second option, provide the operator with the Etisalat/Du/Water/Electricity bill’s account number. You will have to set a maximum amount cap which can be paid by FGB. The author selected Etisalat and mentioned AED369, which is the monthly ELife internet bill. Then they confirmed that the AED550 annual fee will be reversed in next 2-3 days. Yo will receive confirmation sms once it is reversed. You can reduce the amount from your bill when you make the payment.
