Free 10-Minute Parking in Abu Dhabi as per New Parking Rules

- The Integrated Transport Center (ITC) in Abu Dhabi has developed a new procedure to regulate and monitor parking bays using cameras in different areas of the emirate
- As per the new rule, parking is free for the first 10 minutes, and the first 45 minutes after the call of prayer near mosques are also free
- The first phase of the project will cover Al Mussafah, Mohammed bin Zayed City and Abu Dhabi Island, where vehicles will be monitored and tickets will be issued electronically for illegal parking
- The new procedure is part of ITC’s continuous efforts to improve and regulate the parking network and maintain the general appearance of Abu Dhabi
- Mawaqif is a comprehensive parking management program by Abu Dhabi’s Department Municipal Affairs and Transport that aims to resolve parking issues in the city
- Mawaqif services include regulation of parking spaces in Abu Dhabi, dedicating parking spaces for women and people with special needs, emergency and ambulances, civil defence vehicles, issuing electronic permits for residents and employees, and offering payment methods
- The charge for regular parking spaces in Abu Dhabi, which can be distinguished by the black and turquoise colour, is AED 2 per hour and AED 15 for 24 hours
- The charge for premium parking spaces in Abu Dhabi, which can be distinguished by the white and turquoise colour, is AED 3 per hour for a maximum of 4 hours
- Drivers who park outside designated parking spaces in Abu Dhabi can be fined between AED 200 and AED 1,000
