First 3D Printed House to Become a Reality in Dubai

- Students of American University in Dubai will collaborate with 3D construction firm Cazza to build the first 3D printed house for the 2018 Solar Decathlon Middle East competition
- The international competition will see university students from all over the world design, build and operate a grid-connected, energy-sufficient liveable solar house
- Students from the AUD School of Engineering, School of Art, Architecture and Design, and the Mohammed bin Rashid School for Communication, are working for SDME 2018

- The American University in Dubai was shortlisted for the Solar Decathlon Middle East competition in October 2016
- Earlier in 2017, Cazza agreed to collaborate with the Dubai Government on 3D-printing technologies and enrolled in the Dubai Future Accelerators programme
- Dubai has already set a target for 25% of buildings to be 3D-printed by 2030
