Etihad airways lead the safest airline charts

- According to a study which was conducted by the Jet Airliner Crash Data Evaluation Centre (JACDEC), Emirates has been named the world’s safest airlines in 2017
- Etihad Airways featured high and was among the world’s safest airlines, according to the list
- Norway’s Air Shuttle came second on the list, while Britain’s Virgin Atlantic Airways comes in the third place
- The study assessed their performance, previous incidents over the past 3 years and the average age of their fleets
- Emirates is a subsidiary of The Emirates Group, which is wholly owned by the government of Dubai’s Investment Corporation of Dubai
- Etihad Airways is a flag carrier and the second-largest airline of UAE. Its head office is in Khalifa City, near Abu Dhabi International Airport
- JACDEC stands for Jet Airliner Crash Data Evaluation Centre, which provides global safety analysis about commercial aviation since 1989
- Since 2002, JACDEC publishes an annual ranking of the ‘Safest 60 Airlines’
- Other popular airlines in the listings were Netherland’s KLM, Britain’s easyJet, Finland’s Finnair, Etihad Airways, US Spirit Airlines, Australia’s Jetstars and UAE’s Air Arabia
