Dusty and Humid Weekend in Store for UAE
- UAE is expected to have a hot and cloudy weekend, with dust in some areas and a chance of rain in the southern and eastern regions
- The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) warned that the dust could lower visibility to less than 1 kilometre in some areas inland
- A dust storm affected several areas of the UAE as early as 05:30 AM today (13th July, 2017), and will remain at its peak until around 10:00 AM
- Abu Dhabi is expected to see cloudy skies and highs of 46 degree Celsius, while Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman will also see clouds and highs of 44C
- UAE’s summers are known to be quite harsh, with the highest temperature in 2017 recorded on 7th June, in Mezaira, at 49.6 degree Celsius at 03:00 PM
- Between June and end of August, the temperature is normally above 40C and slightly above 50C in UAE
- UAE experiences heat for the most part of the year, and the winter months between January and February have average minimum temperatures recorded from 10-14C
- In June 2017, mercury levels in UAE rose above 40 degree Celsius and neared 50 degree Celsius
- Precautions to keep in mind during dust storms include avoiding going outdoors, covering your nose and mouth, and avoiding activities that cause you to breathe heavily
