Dubai World Cup: Prize money increased to USD 35 million

Dubai is known for hosting the world’s richest horse races in the world. And this year, the prize money has only increased to a staggering amount. The Dubai World Cup has been increased to a bloated USD 35 million (AED 129 million).
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has noted his directives to have the total prize money for the prestigious event and world-famous race to be increased from the earlier agreed amount of USD 12 million (AED 44 million) to USD 35 million (AED 129 million). The prize money is awarded to various races throughout the World Cup.
The racing season comes into effect from 2018 – 2019. The Dubai ruler has also issued directives to have the prize money to be increased in the other races at Meydan Racecource as well to USD 1.83 million (AED 6.7 million)
The Board Chairman of Meydan, Saeed Humaid Al Tayer, said, “The increase in the event’s prize money ‘highlights Sheikh Mohammed’s keenness to support the growth of horse racing, and ensure that the UAE has a superior infrastructure for the development of sport in general and horse racing in particular”.
The Dubai World Cup is an annual racehorse event where the best of the best breeds and some of the world’s most finest horses takes part in the month of March each year. The event draws a great number of racing fans and crowd from across the globe to the stands of Meydan.
