Dubai Welcomes World’s First Floating Kitchen

- The first floating kitchen and seawater drive thru to hit Dubai will cater to “underserved” customers on jet skis, boats, yachts and beachgoers
- Aqua Pod, a novel idea of a food truck not on land but on sea operated by Salt Bay, opened to customers near Rixos The Palm Hotel on Friday (2nd February)
- The floating kitchen, which owners claim as the world’s first, can be navigated at sea to locations based on customer demand
- Aqua Pod has two ordering systems: a flag system where people on boats can raise their flags to order for delivery or customers on small marine crafts can stop by and order on-site
- Aqua Pod is created and developed under the helm of award-winning architect Ahmed Youssef, Founder of Aquatic Architects Design Studio (AADS)
- The Aqua Pod is built with sustainability in mind, with a desalinating function that makes sea water potable without releasing brine discharge
- The Aqua Pod has a built-in garbage system that collects floating trash and disposes waste responsibly onshore
- The 377 square-foot Aqua Pod offers a creative burgers menu, largely because burgers are especially popular among beach goers
- The goal behind the Aqua Pod project is to showcase that a market in the sea already exists
