The Dubai Police will unveil a “game-changing” future accelerators initiative at the Gulf Information Security Expo and Conference (GISEC) on 21st-23rd May 2017.

The police will showcase its “revolutionary product”, an ‘AI Policeman’, which harnesses the much-vaunted Internet of Things, artificial intelligence (AI) and smart services technologies. The ‘robocop’ will become a common sight across the emirate in months and years to come, a top police official said.

“This global launch aligns with the Dubai Police’s commitment to the Dubai Plan 2021 and our pivotal role in achieving the emirate’s smart city strategy,” said Brigadier-General Khalid Nasser Al Razzouqi, director-general of smart services, Dubai Police. “This technology will not only revolutionise the emirate’s police force, it will also provide an engaging, interactive and informative touchpoint between the Police, the general public and visitors from all over the world. It’s the latest example of Dubai championing smart technology at a global level.”

A project that includes over 100 smart city initiatives and a plan to transform 1,000 government services across the full spectrum of public sector entities, the Dubai Plan 2021 aligns with the city’s preparations for hosting Expo 2020 Dubai. The expo is expected to attract more than 25 million visitors from October 2020 to April 2021.

Trixie LohMirmand, senior vice-president, exhibitions and events management, Dubai World Trade Centre, said the new Dubai Police product launch signals an upsurge in closer government and public engagement.

GISEC 2017 is open only to the security and intelligence community, including government departments, businesses and enterprises.
