Dubai Municipality Launches AED 500 Million Project for Clean Air

- Dubai Municipality launched the Air Quality Strategy for Dubai on Thursday, 25th May, 2017
- The project is detailed for the next five years, from 2017 to 2021, at a cost of over AED 500 million
- The strategy is the first of its kind, and aims to make the air quality of Dubai one of the best in the world by 2021
- The strategy has three main objectives, which are – to make Dubai a city with world-class air purity, to make the city grow with sustainable vision and patterns, and thirdly, to make the citizens of Dubai environmentally educated and responsible
- Dubai Municipality is the municipal body with jurisdiction over city services and the upkeep of facilities in Dubai, under the Government of Dubai
- Dubai Municipality has undertaken many other projects to be completed by 2021, such as the Dubai Convention Centre, Gulf Safari, Vertical Industrial City, Dubai Steps, Sewage Tunnels for Dubai
- The objectives of the Air Quality Strategy are in line with the Dubai 2021 Plan, to focus on integrated projects and smart strategies to make Dubai a sustainable city
- The initial stage of the strategy analysed the data in the municipality’s system for monitoring air quality over the past years, and created accurate digital simulation models for each type of air pollutants, resulting in more than 300 digital maps
- Dubai Municipality will implement a number of initiatives and projects in the next five years to make the aims of the strategy a reality
