Dubai Municipality Introduce First Smart Jogging Track

- Dubai Municipality launched the first smart track in Al Khawaneej to record the number of joggers and bikers per day
- Dubai’s first smart track at Al Khawaneej Walking and Cycling Park is aimed to encourage people to make sports as part of their daily lifestyle
- The track displays the weather forecast, number of bikers and joggers, and the number of calories burned per day, and has already recorded over 2000 users so far
- By mid-2018, Dubai Municipality plans to implement smart tracks across Dubai’s public parks
- Dubai Municipality is the municipal body with jurisdiction over city services and the upkeep of facilities in Dubai, under the Government of Dubai
- Dubai has around 10 major public parks, apart from which there are many small neighbourhood parks
- As of 2017, there are 10 cycling tracks and 48 sports tracks across Dubai
- A 30-day Dubai Fitness challenge was launched to call upon everyone to engage in physical activity for 30 minutes daily for 30 days
- In the first half of 2017, Dubai Municipality launched the Park Libraries and the Beach Libraries initiatives, to encourage reading among the residents of Dubai
