Dubai Municipality has implemented a new cultural initiative for its cleaning staff during March 2017 as part of the Month of Reading programme.

The initiative called, the “Reading Worker” was aimed to emphasise the importance of reading among the non-Arabic speaking workers and was implemented with the cooperation of Dubai Public Library of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.

During March, the Waste Management Department implemented a series of initiatives for its employees in all categories with the aim of enhancing the concept of reading, love reading and making it a daily habit in their lives.

“They also reflect the role played by all organisational units in the Municipality in implementing the activities promoting the concept of reading and spreading it among all categories of its employees,” he said.

The department also distributed 300 books to its employees as part of an initiative called, “The Department Reads,” to help motivate them to innovate and excel in their fields of business.
