Dubai Canal Welcomes New Tolerance Bridge

- The Tolerance Bridge was inaugurated at Dubai Water Canal on Thursday, marking the 22nd International Day for Tolerance in 2017
- Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak, Minister of State for Tolerance, unveiled a plaque marking the official inauguration of the bridge in the presence of a number of officials and public
- Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum issued instructions to name one of Dubai’s most beautiful bridges as “Tolerance Bridge”
- Along with the opening, Sheikh Nahyan announced a strategy to promote tolerance to foster a spirit of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among people in the UAE
- Dubai Water Canal is an artificial canal that has on its banks one shopping centre, four hotels, 450 restaurants, luxury housing, walkways and cycle paths
- Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai
- The International Day for Tolerance falls on 16th of November every year
- UAE has people belonging to more than 200 nationalities living and working within the country, so there are consistent efforts to ensure that all of them are able to live harmoniously
- Sheikh Mohammed tweeted on the International Day for Tolerance that “Tolerance is synonymous with the UAE”
