Discount on Over 2500 UAE Market Products for Eid Al Adha

- All major cooperative markets in UAE are offering discounts of up to 50% on 2500 items during Eid Al Adha holiday, following an agreement with the Ministry of Economy
- The discount covers items including rice, cooking oil, milk, juices, frozen meat, frozen poultry, vegetables, fruits, sugar, flour, pasta, sweets and chocolates
- The official prices for sacrificial animals like goats, sheep and cows for Eid Al Adha range from AED 500 to AED 2800, depending on the origin, weight and age of the animal
- Officials warned traders against selling animals outside licensed livestock markets and not issuing out invoices to customers, which may result in fines of up to AED 100,000
- Eid Al Adha is the largest Islamic festival observed around the world
- Eid al Adha literally means ‘Feast of the Sacrifice’, honouring a Muslim prophet’s willingness to sacrifice his only son in front of God
- An animal is sacrificed during Eid Al Adha and divided into three parts: one third for the family, one third is given to friends, and the remaining third is for the poor and needy
- As per the Islamic calendar, Eid Al Adha will fall on Dhu Al Hijjah 10, 1438
- Eid Al Adha 2017 holidays in UAE will be from 31st August till 2nd September for private sector employees and from 31st August till 4th September for government employees
