Al Maktoum Bridge to be Closed Over 5 Weekends

- Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is poised to carry out the annual maintenance of Al Maktoum Bridge
- The bridge will be closed for road and marine traffic on Fridays — starting from 27th October until 24th November, 2017, from 01:00 AM to 09:00 AM
- Marine traffic will be limited to Sundays and Thursdays between 01:00 AM and 05:00 AM
- The operation would be undertaken after the completion of all routine, preventive and corrective maintenance of electro-mechanical systems and a final inspection
- The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is the regulatory authority for all matters regarding transport and road safety in the emirate of Dubai
- Al Maktoum Bridge is a bridge that crosses Dubai Creek, and is the first bridge in Dubai, opened in 1963
- Al Maktoum Bridge enables people to cross from Bur Dubai to Deira, or vice versa, without using a boat ferry or going around the Dubai Creek

- The Floating Bridge, another of the bridges across Dubai Creek, is closed from 10:00 PM on Thursdays up to 06:00 AM on Fridays
