- Motorists who park on the side of the road for praying will be fined AED 500, a senior official of Dubai Police said
- Dubai Police warning came a day after a motorist rammed into a crowd of people offering Maghrib prayer on the roadside on Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road
- There are many mosques in the city and at petrol stations where motorists can offer prayers instead of endangering lives of people by praying on the roadside
- Dubai Police aim to launch awareness campaigns for motorists to avoid parking on the side of the roads
- Dubai Police is the main regulatory authority in the emirate, with a force of 15000, functioning for over 60 years in Dubai
- Since UAE is an Islamic country, prayer times are followed religiously throughout the day in all the emirates
- There are five times of prayer for Muslims in a day – Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha
- Police departments in UAE issued 23763 fines to motorists in 2016 for not following road signs and traffic instructions
- The number of mosques being built in UAE has steadily increased over the years, with a recorded 2036 mosques in 2015 within Dubai alone
