AED 3000 Fine for Over 100 Neglected Vehicles in Abu Dhabi

- More than 100 cars have been impounded and dozens of motorists fined up to AED 3000 as Abu Dhabi Municipality cracks down on dirty neglected cars in the city
- An inspection was carried out in Mussaffah and Mafraq industrial areas where 141 vehicles were impounded, 31 fines were issued and 289 car owners were given warnings for abandoned cars
- If a person who has been fined reports to the Municipality a settlement will be offered which includes a 50% discount, and repeat offenders are fined double the amount
- Motorists are given three days notice by Municipality authorities before the car is impounded
- The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City is municipal system responsible for the development and welfare of Abu Dhabi
- Prior to July 2017, the notice period given to Abu Dhabi motorists before impounding cars was 14 days
- Abu Dhabi Municipality has a smartphone application called ‘Unified Window’, through which customers can access 12 municipal services
- Abu Dhabi Municipality urges people to keep their vehicles clean to avoid the fine of AED 3000, which falls under Law No (2) for 2012
- Not only cars, but all vehicles in Abu Dhabi can be fined for negligence, including trailers and boats
