This initiative was intended to induce the public participation in communal and sports events, hold awareness-raising events, and encourage the community to pay more attention to public health. The marathon also revitalized the role of the Musaffah Municipal Center, shoring up its ties with the community members, assigning more attention to sports events & healthy practices, familiarizing the community with the municipal facilities in the area, besides paying due attention to health and physical fitness, strengthening external partnerships with strategic partners, and raising the community’s satisfaction with the municipal services & facilities.
The Municipality has fully completed the cycling and pedestrians track project in Mohammed Bin Zayed City.
This project epitomizes the municipal system’s vision aimed at achieving sustainable development and promoting the standards and quality of life in Abu Dhabi emirate. It also echoes ADM’s mission of providing high-quality municipal & customer-centric services at world-class standards in collaboration with the community and strategic partners.
The cycling and walks projects reflect the Municipality’s commitment to its corporate values aimed at upgrading lifestyle in the city and establishing recreational and sports venues at par with the highest HSE standards. At the same time, the Municipality is moving ahead with the projects undertaken by the Municipal Assets and Infrastructure Sector to revamp the components of the infrastructure in a way that achieves the aspirations of community members and contributes to supporting the comprehensive development boom seen by Abu Dhabi at all fronts.
Mohammed Bin Zayed City Integrated Walk, which measures 14,420 meters in length, is intended to showcase the aesthetic appearance of the city, a healthy environment & gorgeous natural avenue for residents at world-class standards of security and safety. The project is also intended to promote and implement the Municipality’s vision of providing premium municipal services, and modern infrastructure services for a promising capital, and increasing sustainable greenery to maintain the aesthetic appearance of the city. Moreover, the project would encourage community members to practice sport by providing the appropriate venue and shaded areas away from road risks.
The Municipality was keen on providing Mohammed Bin Zayed City Walk with the key safety standards by installing signboards, warning signs, and lighting, besides performing periodic maintenance to the landscaped area alongside the walk and protecting it from the cycling lane, which extends up to streets No. 28, 51 and 63 in the city.
The Municipality was also keen on fitting the walk with a gorgeous outlook by planting more than 1170 trees on both sides of the Walk, spaced at a distance of 15 meters. It used local flora as part of its objectives to protect the environment and optimize water consumption. The boundary wall parallel to the Walk measures 28,840 meters in length and one meter in width. The total area covered by local plants with a width ranging from 1 to 14 meters at each side of the Walk amounts to 36,755 square meters.
Once completed, the Walk will be an ideal venue for residents to practice sports in a safe and healthy environment, and the project will have a positive repercussion on the overall appearance of the city.
The ADM calls upon valued residents to preserve the components of the Walk, especially landscaped areas and lighting systems which have been provided for the purpose of a better services and a sports facility at standards befitting the aspirations of the community. The Municipality pins high confidence in all community members to exercise the sense of responsibility, positive participation and support to the municipal efforts in up-keeping public facilities in a high working condition.
