Abu Dhabi’s Revamped Mirfa Port Will Support Local Community

Mirfa port in the Western Region is now open after re-development. The project is expected to boost tourism, local fishing communities and traders.
Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and chairman of Abu Dhabi Ports Company, inaugurated the infrastructure upgrade at the port.
The redevelopment included rock revetment to protect port berths and construction of a breakwater to guard the basin from the force of strong currents. Floating pontoons were also put in place, creating new berths to accommodate 140 fishing boats and leisure ferries. The floating berths will help fishermen to keep their boats in water, instead of pulling them on shore after each trip. Details
