Abu Dhabi’s Al Maqta Bridge to be Partially Closed

- Two lanes of the Al Maqta Bridge in Abu Dhabi are to be closed until Sunday, 23rd September, for maintenance
- The closure, which began on Wednesday, only applies to the Abu Dhabi-bound lanes and will continue until 05:00 AM on Sunday
- The Abu Dhabi City Municipality and the Traffic and Patrols Directorate announced the closure at the start of the long weekend
- The municipality called on all motorists to exercise caution, use the diversions in place and slow down when approaching the bridge
- Al Maqta Bridge is about 300 metres long and was first constructed in 1967
- Al Maqta Bridge was the first bridge connecting Abu Dhabi island with the mainland
- The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City is municipal system responsible for the development and welfare of Abu Dhabi
- Al Maqta Bridge literally means “Crossing Point”
- From 1997 to 2000. Al Maqta Bridge’s roads and rods were upgraded and refurbished by BESIX and Six Construct
