Abu Dhabi University donates over 5,000 books

English language books to be distributed by Emirates Red Crescent to refugees and developing countries
The Abu Dhabi University Knowledge Group (ADUKG) has donated more than 5,000 English language books for refugees and students in developing countries, in partnership with Emirates Red Crescent, who will distribute the books.
The donated books include both textbooks and workbooks for students who are at an intermediate or beginner level in their studies, and will support them in broadening their understanding and grasp of the English language.
As well as donating the books, ADUKG has also sent associated teacher manuals along with digital resources to help teachers carry out their programmes more successfully with the students.
“It is a key part of ADUKG’s vision that our company makes a sustainable contribution to the social and economic development of the entire Mena region and the wider world,” said Dr Ahmad Badr, chief executive officer at ADUKH
“Our WeCare initiative has been a great way to drive this vision forward as it undertakes a range of projects and schemes specifically aimed at making a positive social and economic impact, using our particular knowledge and resources to help address specific regional issues.
“The initiative’s current areas of focus are education, society, health, and the environment and our project with Emirates Red Crescent will help make a direct impact on the education and future prospects of the many recipients of these materials, and will also translate the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan who dubbed 2016 as the ‘Year of Reading’,” he added.
