Abu Dhabi Named the Safest City in the World

- Abu Dhabi has been named the safest city in the world by Numbeo, out of a survey of 334 cities
- Abu Dhabi came out at the top with the lowest crime index of just 13.54 in the first six months of 2017, a safety index of 86.46, and 94% general feeling of safety in the city
- Abu Dhabi was followed by Basel in Switzerland, Munich in Germany, Singapore and Quebec City in Canada, as the world’s safest cities
- The cities with the highest crime rates and lowest safety index in 2017 are San Pedro Sula in Honduras, Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea and Caracas in Venezuela
- Numbeo is the the largest user-contributed database about cities and countries worldwide
- Abu Dhabi is the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, with a population of just over 1 million
- Abu Dhabi topped the list of safest cities in the Middle East in The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Safe Cities Index 2015
- In July 2017, Abu Dhabi was named the second-best city in the world to live, work and do business in, overtaking both London and Paris, according to the Ipsos City Index
- In terms of safety, there are more than 34,000 police officers in Abu Dhabi, and the numbers will grow by more than 47,500 by 2021 – meaning one officer for every 58 people in the growing city
