Abu Dhabi Municipality reduces housing violations

Abu Dhabi Municipality has claimed that housing violations are now down to zero following its drive to stop overcrowding in residential units.
The municipality launched its campaign in January to tackle overcrowding in houses in the area under the supervision of Al Wathba municipal centre to make sure that health and safety standards were met, according to Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National.
During the campaign, inspectors observed problems such as the construction of unlicensed extensions, overcrowding of buildings by labourers, lack of hygiene, and an increase in insects and rodents inside houses.
