Abu Dhabi Green Entities Sign Deal to Make UAE Cleaner
The Centre of Waste Management – Abu Dhabi ‘Tadweer’ and Sharjah Environment Company Bee’ah announced a five-year partnership to bring innovative waste management solutions to Abu Dhabi on 27 December 2016.
Minister of Climate Change and Environment Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi told Khaleej Times the partnership ‘is a great move’ in realising the national goals.
“We are really proud of this partnership. This is a great move towards achieving our national agenda, that is to recycle 75 per cent of our waste. The partnership between the government and the private sector is shown through this agreement. This is a great step forward in sharing our local experience within ourselves and capitalise on the knowledge that we have built over the last decade.”
Zeyoudi said: “The UAE is an excellent modern society but our aim is to improve. We are always looking to explore new ways and enhance our work. We want to provide a happy society to our people. This is one step towards UAE 2021 vision and Abu Dhabi 2030 vision.”
The partnership is aimed at integrating and raising innovative waste management solutions and enhancing environmental sustainability for Abu Dhabi City.
Tadweer general manager Eisa Saif Al Qubaisi said the entity had this year signed a series of contracts worth AED 1.2 billion for new projects of waste collection and transportation services. The contracts included this partnership with Bee’ah. “Through this partnership, we aim to build a sustainable waste management and public health pest control system, thus enabling our system to be among the best in the world by 2030.”
On the importance of the partnership, he said: “It is only through collaboration that we can provide optimal solutions for environmental sustainability. We are confident that through this partnership we will be able to accelerate technologies that will improve operations and forge solutions for sustainable communities.”
Bee’ah group CEO Khaled Al Huraimel said the agreement has raised the standards of sustainability in the nation and a cleaner life for the people of Abu Dhabi and the UAE overall.
